PUBLIC SERVICE COMMUNICATIONS BUS

E.C.S. operates and maintains a 40' Silver Eagle Communications Bus which was designed and built by Insync Electronics Corporation to demonstrate the linking of communications between any combination of government agencies and/or public service organizations. The mobile communications center has over 25 radios on board. It has the capability to link radios, send email by radio or satellite, link wireless computer networks and monitor and record virtually any type of emergency radio signal.

The bus has been used at many public service events to aid in communications and to test new equipment and technology. Doing these exercises in real world settings such as these events supports many great non profit organizations, while at the same time providing a perfect venue for further R & D.

SPECIALTY COMMUNICATIONS

ECS also demonstrates specialized radios such as HF ALE which are used by Red Cross, FEMA, and Military Affiliate Radio Stations. Emergency radio stations on all frequencies are covered. The demonstration bus incorporates a 70-foot pneumatic tower with repeaters for both public service and amateur radio links. The 800 MHz and new 700 MHz digital statewide networks can also be linked.

A PTZ Camera is located on top of the 70' tower that allows viewing of the disaster or staging area from inside the bus or via satellite from another location.

ONBOARD RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT LAB

Insync Electronics Corporation, maintains a small Research and Development Lab on the bus that allows real time testing of new radio and satellite interfaces. Since the field of communications continues to develop at a fast pace it is imperative that a means and methods to interface the new technologies continues to stay current. Insync is constantly updating and developing new interfaces for new equipment and legacy equipment and finding ways to monitor and record communications during exercises and real time incidents. This will aid in post disaster examination of the communications to find the problem areas and repair them.

Special thanks to:

Southern Electronics Supply -
http://www.southernele.com   located in Baton Rouge and New Orleans for their continued support and providing needed equipment after a burglary of the bus. They have helped the cause for numerous events.

Mr. Richard Landry for some of the finest carpentry, design work and endless hours of anything and everything work that helped make the bus a reality.

Thanks also go out to the Baton Rouge Amateur Radio Club, LSU Amateur Radio Society, Assumption Parish Radio Club  and for the many volunteer operators that assist our projects and allow us to assist them for their projects. Living proof that Amateur Radio has very few amateurs of anything. Engineers, physics professors, technicians and students alike, all operate the events in unison with a versatility that no amateur could accomplish.

The "Amateur" in Amateur Radio simply means they are not commercial and thereby not paid for their services).
But they are professional volunteers!

BE A SPONSOR

E.C.S. is a non profit on a very limited budget with no employees, only volunteers and good people like you that donate to help pay for the upkeep and fuel for the bus. If you would like to be part of the team and donate money, time or even advise, it is always welcome.

Throw some change in the pot and help us keep the bus running and hopefully make upcoming seminars between different agencies possible. Even a couple of bucks will help. Let us know if it's OK to add your name and call sign(if you have one) to the list.

Paypal or credit cards go securely through paypal. Your card number or any information is never shared with anyone! Not even us.

Thanks and we hope you have a great holiday and a happy New Year!
